Zwift has just released an in-game ramp test which determines your FTP in less time and suffering than the standard Zwift FTP test.
The worst thing to be on a flat course is tall and skinny. For the last 5 years I worked out 4x a week doing high intensity workouts.

I of course accepted the new numbers. Wattage too high? I gained 27w over the period from ftp of 249-276w body fat% decreased by 2.5% in this period also down to 15%. Bit too cosy that site with Zwift HQ, but that’s another story.
I did the short ftp test last weekend for the first time and the warm-up included a very high resistance section for a few minutes. I just starting Zwifting on a Saris M2 with my Cannondale CAADx.
Shame there isn’t a website that covers all … I almost ground to a halt too, even in my granny gear. Height is such a huge factor on Zwift, too since its a stand in for CDA.
Would have shown some integrity and independence for Zwiftinsider to at least reference TrainerRoad’s ramp test. Zwift Insider is independent of Zwift corporate (www.zwift.com), although Zwift does provide funding to help defray site costs. This site contains affiliate links to Amazon, Wahoo, and other brands.
(Not sure if … Zwift Insider makes a small commission on purchases made from these … Then over the course of a few months, there were a couple occasions where after finishing a race, Zwift suggested I increase FTP to 325 and then to 330 (ish).
I have just completed the 10/12week ftp builder on zwift. I’m new to Zwift, but generally a fit person. While the standard FTP Test requires a challenging warmup followed by a 20-minute max effort, the Ramp Test begins with an easy warmup then ramps up incrementally each minute until you can’t go anymore. I too tested my FTP on Zwift on a couple occasions.
So far I’ve done a Tour de Zwift group ride (stage 2), which was a great workout, and the long FTP test. I forget exact numbers, but 315 and 320. Zwift time trial results are heavily skewed to shorter rider on the flat courses. I signed up for Zwift because I wanted to get back into cycling and try something new. I joined a group ride yesterday but my W/kg was almost 2x that of the other group members and it was too easy for me to be in the front with very little effort.
