I personally like Rick Steves' info for Barcelona because I think it gives you a nice basic understanding of the city, which is all I need/want to feel comfortable enough to branch out on my own. Sadly, the charm of the Ramblas has not survived the rise of mass tourism in Barcelona.Back when locals enjoyed strolling here, there was plenty of business to keep characteristic flower stalls, bird markets, and newspaper stands healthy. Not only do we try to watch Rick Steves on TV but use the guidebooks for wherever we travel in Europe. Smokin, I do agree with you about the Barcelona/Rick Steves thing.
